So my husband and I are planning on taking advantage of a certain vendor's $1 a gallon sale and snagging two 40B, based on the discussion in the tank setup forum about 40B vs. 55g tanks. Will a 40g work for a gaggle of Demasoni? How many would we want to stock it with, and could we combine them with one other species that would be happy in a 40B (would Rusties work?) or would we be best limiting it to just the one species, given how feisty they are?

What are the dimensions of the tank? 36" tank I'd do just the demasoni.

I believe it's a 36", will check for sure this evening. How many for a happy bunch of Dems in that size tank? And would they do okay with a bristlenose pleco on cleanup duty?

A dozen demasoni after removing extra males (so start with more than that). BN should be OK.
