Discus and Common Plecos

Postby whalebite » Sat Apr 08, 2017 3:05 pm

So I have a common pleco, probably 16 inches long and am planning to upgrade its tank, and was wondering if discus can live along side them, my fear is attacking the slime coat as the discus grow. I would probably get rather small discus that would grow alongside it.

IMO, I do not like having plecos with discus. Discus need really clean water and IMO a pleco produces too much waste in the water. A big object in the water (the large pleco) may disturb or scare the discus, they are jittery already anyway.

I have heard about plecos eating the slime off fishes, but have never witnessed this myself.
