My Africans gave birth and I had no idea!

Postby Caveman Steve » Thu Jan 05, 2017 7:25 pm

Kind of embarrassing, but I recently noticed a new addition to my tank. A single baby cichlid, which must be the lone survivor of a brood. He/she is probably almost an inch long. Can't believe I never saw him til now. He lives in a well protected cave. Started crushing up some food and dropping it as close as I can to him so he can eat. Seems healthy. I have nowhere else to put him. Hoping he will survive. He is bluish in color now but he may be a Yellow lab since I have seen the lab in his cave. The adults in my tank (55 Gal.) are 3 years old and fairly large. (3" or so) Can he survive??

I find once they survive the first few days they are good. I would not call attention to him with special feeding though.
