Double checking petland

Postby rp2180 » Sun Apr 09, 2017 11:01 pm

Hi all,

I bought 3 cichlids I need help identifying. Bought the from petland and a bit skeptical on the accuracy.

The pink was sold to me as a golden peacock. $20

The blue one ..electric blue (forgot the rest)

The yellow ....VC10. ??? $30

I searched them all. Electric blue matched up so I think they got that right.

Both the vc10 And golden don't match pics online. Only thing that resembles the pink golden peacock, is a blood dragon peacock, that I have found.

So your expertise is greatly appreciated.

Kept mbunas for about 5 years.....then moved and they didnt come with me. The tank did....now 4 years later i decided to get this 180 going again. Not really looking to get full blown into hobby just want to keep this and a 55 gallon hospital/grow out tank. After cycling fishless....i picked up a couple mbunas from there "assorted cichlid" tank. I believe them to be.....1 rusty, 1, yellow lab, 1 blue socolofi? 1 orange socolofi? really just a test to see how they handle my water parameters.
water- soft, ph- 7.4 0,0,5 ANN

decided to go peacocks and haps....all males if i can.

while at petland getting some stuff i seen these 3 getting bullied by a red emperess (according to label) vc10 taking the most damage, and thought the blue and pink were nice looking fish so i picked them up.

will now probably picking and choosing online so i can make sure they are males and making sure no look alikes. Will remove the 4 mbunas if they cause a problem or suffer in there.

blue - Scieanochromis fryeri
yellow - Sunshine peacock... Aulonocara baenschi, or Maleri Island, or a mix of the two.
