Wild Cichlid ID Help Please!

Postby EpicCichlids » Sun Jul 08, 2012 11:28 pm

Hey guys, was canal fishing recently (lucky to live in Miami, FL, i know!) with a buddy of mine. We caught the usual, peacock bass (actually cichlids) and mayan cichlids and then I hooked a HUGE hybrid cichlid. Almost a foot long! At first it looked a bit like a type of hybrid severum, but further inspection made me have some doubts... Wondering if you guys had any idea? But it really is a gorgeous cichlid!

Ahhh yes! The body shape resembles it; probably a female then. Coloring must've just been the hybrid gene mixing in, I'm assuming. But thanks for quenching my curiosity!
