Unidentified Cichlids • SA/CA cichlid?

i got this cichlid on craigslist but the guy i got him from has no idea what he is. his blue iridescent looks amazing.

Jewel cichlid. This strain is known in the hobby as a 'neon jewel' or 'Hemichromis sp. neon'. Where and how this jewel cichlid strain came about is not known, however. It may be a line bred variant of the common jewel, Hemichromis guttatus or it may be the result of a cross between various Hemichromis species.
