Came home from work to find my new electric blue acara had jumped out the tank and was lying on hard laminated flooring, I think he has taken a huge blow from hitting the floor. I put him back into the tank and he is breathing but not able to swim properlly, when I put my hand near him he will swim away but cannot rise up in the tank he is just resting on the bottom.
Any advice would be appreciated as I am truely heartbroken at this moment. :-?
Wow, lucky that he is still alive.. I had a Silver Dollar jump and by the time I returned home he was dead.
I think your best bet is to quarantine and hope for the best. Make sure your water parameters are perfect, and he is not feeling stressed in the slightest. How far was the fall? How big is he?
Hes still young, about a month old id say, he has now started swimming more, hes caught fungus on his head so i just done a water change and dosed the tank with some anti fungus meds. Hopefully he recovers!
Have you checked your water parameters recently? I didn't think Acaras did much jumping. Hopefully he's not trying to escape an ammonia spike or something?
I have now put him in a quarantine plastic bucket with water from the tank and put a nice bubbler in there for him added some more anti fungus so he should be able to relax a bit
