Frontosa in 150 long?

Postby Bart12 » Mon Feb 27, 2017 9:40 pm

I've got two tanks at my church that I've been commissioned to change. They are 150 longs (basically a taller 125). They want lots of color and bigger fish. I'm thinking of doing fronts and brichardi. Thoughts?

My plan is to do crushed coral for substrate and lots of texas holy rock.

Filtered by a Fluval FX6.

Thanks.

Fronts are fine in a 150 - kept a colony that way for years. Would not advise mixing with Brichardi, however. For a number of reasons. If you mean have one tank with fronts and the other with Brichardi, that would be fine too.

Thank you for the response. I did mean the same tank. The other tank will house a Malawi mix (which I've done before). What would be a good fish to combine with the fronts? Just go with some synos?

Edit - and how many fronts should I stock?

I don't have any but I've talked to a few who keep Altolamprologus Calvus with fronts. Fronts and Calvus tend to be pretty mellow. The calvus won't grow quite as big but if you make sure they are bigger or same size as the fronts, they shouldn't see them as food once the fronts mature.

I have 5 frontosas in my 135. I am sure I could have two or three more. If you want breeding don't get the calvus. If you do not care maybe it is okay. A frontosa might get one lodged in its throat.
135 Gallon: Frontosa 5 Wild Caught Mpimbwe
90 Gallon: Cyrtocara moorii, Labidochromis caeruleus
90 Gallon: Cyprichromis Mamalesa, Enantiopus Kilesa
10 & 20 Gallon: Fry Tanks
Fish tanks - betcha can't have just one!

Hmmmm...

I think that I would really like a Frontosa tank, but maybe for these tanks, I'll just do a colorful malawi mix in both tanks.
