Is there a mixture of Shellie's and Comps that can coexist, raise fry
Or will the comps prey on the Shellie fry and not get any growth in population in the shell dwellers
55 gallon 48 x12, my tank is just about cycled, and I'm not set on anything yet
The comps will eat the shellie fry, but I hear multifasciatus are so prolific that they reproduce faster than the predation. Comp fry needs to be removed from the tank and grown out elsewhere as the adults will eat the fry.
I usually feed them guppies. The comps eat the fry and the males, but let the larger female guppies alone, at least at first. You can get guppies breeding faster than the comps can eat them. Comps will probably have no trouble eating multies, but because of the soft fin rays, guppies are smooth sailing down the gullet.
I will have to look a live bearing fish, So the guppy's are easier prey than the shellies and mostly leave them alone ?
Ho many pairs of guppy's for a 55g and 4 juvenile comps
