Hi Everyone, I have a new 75 gallon currently cycling. I would like to do 2 species of shell dwellers in the tank. I was able to find a group of Lamprologus calliurus locally, I have a rock pile in the middle for calvus as well as a potential partition to separate the 2 groups. The area that I plan on setting up the Calliurus is on the left in the photo, it's about 24"by18", I would like to put similis on the other end, where there is about 18"x12" of open sand. I plan on finishing the setup with a group of Cyprichromis Zonatus. Does this setup seem workable? I'm not sure how much space the Calliurus require, Ihave heard they are similar to brevis, but have also heard they can get big. Thanks for looking.
Brevis is a pair spawner and tops out at about 2 inches: calliurus is a harem spawner that can hit 4 inches depending on the morph, is easily dominated by other cichlids, and the males reside in rocks. Keep those factors in mind when stocking this tank!
